Merciful God, You are great in compassion and Your tenderness for us is without measure. We ask You to give us today our daily bread, and also provide for the needs of all of Your hungry children around the world. Through Christ Your Son and Our Lord. Amen.

Weekly Menu

This is a busy Feast Day week, so I'm attempting to squeeze in a few special recipes -- mostly desserts. And lest you think that we eat all of these desserts at our house, I want you to know that the teachers Doug works with usually get the yummy leftovers.

Last week, the Split Pea soup lunch became dinner, so I moved the Crock Pot Pork Roast to next Sunday.

I made tried some new recipes this week and after making the Poppy Seed cake on Friday, which was good, but not particularly inexpensive or easy, I realized that you may think that all of the recipes that I have provided links to are tried and true. So, I am color-coding my links, with a key at the bottom of my menu, so that you will know which are tried recipes and which are new to me.

Monday -- Feast of St. Therese of the Child Jesus
Lunch: Chicken Wraps, apple slices
(packers: ham and cheese sandwich, Cheez-its, carrot sticks)
Dinner: Loosemeat sandwiches, scalloped Potatoes, cole slaw, White cupcakes with icing roses (although I have a real dislike for fruit roll-ups, I may resort to
these if I run out of time. I must remind myself -- it's the thought that counts.)

Tuesday -- Feast of the Guardian Angels
Lunch: Tomato Soup and grilled cheese
(ham and cheese sandwich, yogurt, cookies)
Dinner:
Chicken Nachos, Chocolate Angel Food Cake

Wednesday
Lunch: ortho appt. -- grab something out
(packers: chicken sandwich, carrot sticks, candy bar)

I love how you celebrate the big feasts through food!

(I was glad to notice that I had spaghetti planned for St. Francis' day--but I should get something together for Little Flower and the Guardian Angels as well.)
