Overnight French Toast

.
Last night we had breakfast for dinner. Breakfast for dinner is a favorite in our house, and since it's generally pretty budget-friendly, I try to plan it each week or two. Last night we had Overnight French Toast with sausages and fresh fruit, and although I didn't take any pictures, it's such a
straightforward, simple, inexpensive, kid-friendly dish, I have to share. Maybe you already have a recipe in your cookbook, but if you don't, keep a copy. You'll be glad you did.

I made mine at around noon and ate dinner at 6, so don't think you really have to do the overnight thing.

Overnight French Toast

½ cup butter, melted
1 cup brown sugar
1 ½ cups milk
1 loaf French bread or your favorite loaf of bread
5 eggs
pinch salt
1 t. cinnamon

Pour melted butter in 13 x 9 pan.
Mix sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over butter.
Slice bread in 1-1/2-inch slices. Layer over sugar mixture.
Beat eggs, salt and milk; pour over bread, turn to coat.
Refrigerate overnight.
Turn before baking, uncovered, at 350 degrees F, for 45 to 60 minutes.
Turn after 30 minutes. Serve immediately with syrup.

We are also big fans of the breakfast dinner, although (due to some bizarre, genetic mutation) my son is the only child in the world who doesn't like French toast. We are Waffle People. However: this would be a great dish to give overnight guests, and I'm saving it!
