Merciful God, You are great in compassion and Your tenderness for us is without measure. We ask You to give us today our daily bread, and also provide for the needs of all of Your hungry children around the world. Through Christ Your Son and Our Lord. Amen.

A busy week for Catholic mamas

The triple whammy of All Hallows' Eve, All Saints Day, and All Souls Day always leaves me needing a vacation. We didn't even do very much, and I still feel wiped out.

Today we enjoyed our Soul Cakes, a day or two late. Definitely better late than ever. How are you recovering on this first November Saturday?

I love your soul cakes, so, no, I didn't make them. One of the saddest things about eating the way I try to is that I can't make all the yummy things for feast days that I would like. OTOH, there wasn't really time this week, so it's just as well. Sometimes I will make them, if I'm feeling strong, but not this year.

And even with only the 2 kids "celebrating" it's still a rough week!

I am always wiped out from the "trilogy". I so want to make Soul Cakes someday. Yours look amazing! But right now, I'm trying to lose some weight and eating Soul Cakes is not the way! Besides, how can I make a wheat, egg, and dairy free donut for my son? :-(

Yum, they look so good. In Rochester, NY, they had "apple fritters" in the Fall at the apple orchard, and they are basically apple cake donuts, I've been wanting to recreate those for ages. I might actually give it a shot. =)
