I was a little disappointed. The co-op said that there will be more this week, specifically kohlrabi and lettuce. I am holding my breath.

So, how does your co-op work? Who decides what you will get in the box? The only experience I have ever had with a veggie co-op was one where we each took turns shopping with the amount of money collected from each family and go shopping at the bulk farmer's market and split the bulk boxes between the families.

Charlotte,
The co-op is farm-sponsored. It's a CSA (community sponsored agriculture). I bought a share (actually I'm splitting it with my sister-in-law) and the farm delivers the food to me once a week. The farmer decides what is delivered, and that's based on availability. The farm said their planting season started late (due to weather) and that's why there isn't much available yet. They gave us a schedule of what was supposed to be available at this time, but they are off by a few weeks.

I have never done this before, bu I am hopeful that it works out. The farm is about an hour away, so the produce if fresh, and while it's not organic by certification, they use organic methods in hope that eventually they will be organic certified. I'm doing my best to support local businesses!
