Cookie Dough Brownies

If you could combine two of the yummiest sweets in the kitchen, wouldn't you? Well, here you go. The combination of fudgey brownies and cookie dough (egg-less, of course). Heaven!

I got this recipe about 10 years ago (I'm guessing) from Taste of Home magazine. This was one of those winners they publish each month. It is a winner. These treats are very rich and you will absolutely need a glass of milk to cut that sweet! But you'll have another, I promise.

My photo's not much to look at, so you better make you're own. It took me less time to put the batter together than it did for the oven to preheat. I love a recipe like that.

Cookie Dough Brownies

2 cups sugar
1½ cups flour
½ cup cocoa
½ t. salt
1 cup vegetable oil
4 eggs
3 t vanilla, divided
½ cup butter or margarine
½ cup brown sugar
¼ cup sugar
2 T. milk
1 cup flour

Glaze Ingredients:

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 T. shortening

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Combine 2 c. sugar, 1-1/2 cups flour, cocoa and salt.
Add oil, eggs and 2 t. vanilla; beat at medium speed for three minutes.
Pour into greased 13x9 pan. Bake for 30 minutes or until they test done.
Cool completely.

Top with filling: cream butter and sugars.
Add milk and vanilla; mix well. Beat in flour.
Spread over brownies. Chill until firm.

For glaze, melt chocolate chips and shortening in a saucepan or microwave,
stirring until smooth. Spread over filling.

We made them yesterday and they are almost gone today! Yuuuuuh-uhhh-mmy!

I was out of cocoa powder (never happens!) so I substituted melted chocolate. They turned out a little lighter in color and not as fluffy as yours but still delicious.

One question: What temperature did you bake your brownies at? I assumed 350.

Yikes! I can't believe I forgot to put in the temp. My recipe software has a spot for the temp. in the upper right-hand corner of the page -- so it's often not in the instructions. I'll have to make a mental note to check that each time I post. Sorry!!! You were right -- 350 it is.

It was no big deal! They were delicious. My kids are already asking, "When is snack time?". They can't wait for the leftovers. I guess I better make sure that there is at least one left for Husband! Thanks for sharing!
